Challenges and Solutions in Using Green Hydrogen for Vehicles to Improve the Environment and Public Health

Background The use of green hydrogen (GH) has gained significant global attention as a promising and clean energy source. GH plays a key role in maintaining a sustainable environment and, consequently, improving public health. Introduction Several types of hydrogen fuel cells are available for vehicle power, but they are still in the research and development stages. This calls for further research to find scientific solutions to maximize hydrogen utilization at affordable prices and high efficiency. Methodology This paper focuses on monitoring and understanding the current status and challenges facing automotive hydrogen fuel cells. The cell consists of a cathode, an anode, and an electrolyte as a medium. Objective This paper aims to present examples of the current progress in hydrogen fuel cells operating using water electrolysis. In addition, offers solutions based on advanced engineering materials and appropriate measurement techniques to improve the performance of the cathode material and its surface in a scientific and useful manner. Furthermore, the use of scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy is proposed to improve the characterization of the cathode material, its surface, and the electrolyte in hydrogen fuel cells. Conclusion Adopting this approach may be a necessary step toward helping provide clean and sustainable energy, reducing pollution, enhancing doctors’ ability to perform their medical duties, and maximizing patient treatment and recovery in a healthy environment. In addition, it will enhance the understanding of researchers, students, and those interested in alternative energy sources, highlighting the importance of the environment and public health.
