Educommunication and Climate Crisis Literacy: Transmedia Artivism i5
摘要
The research approaches citizen engagement for climate action from the perspective of educommunication and (post)digital innovation. A focal point of this chapter is the role of experiential learning, cyberactivism, and intermedial participatory strategies to promote an educational and sociocultural scenario sensitive to the need for profound changes in our lifestyles. Based on over two decades of experience, the introduction of the Transmedia Artivism i5 methodology is based on the following key concepts: investigation, intermediality, immersion, interactivity, and intercreativity. This specific educational procedure aims to stimulate the students’ creative skills from their role as “produsers” and committed citizens by exploring new ways of cocreation both in connective and face-to-face contexts. In fact, by designing blended strategies based on the opportunities offered by the space in between online and offline environments, the chances to reach inclusive socialization and to develop more empathic tactics seem to substantially increase. The examination of case studies will elucidate the progression of this educational methodology in response to contemporary societal issues, illustrated by several critical topics related to the climate emergency, including climate obstructionism, environmental delinquency, and ecoanxiety. This research establishes an epistemological framework centered on cyberactivism, immersive art, and experiential communication, emphasizing the significance of media artivism within the educational context and its ability to drive behavioral and social change.
