摘要

The conditions under which cities and buildings are planned, built, and maintained are changing due to climate change. Growing environmental stresses, such as intense heat, flooding, and resource shortages, call for innovative strategies that combine technology innovation and creative design. The conceptual underpinnings of Design Innovation for Climate-Resilient Cities and Built Environments: Architectural and Technological Solutions are introduced in this chapter, which describes how climate resilience can be integrated into urban, infrastructure, and architectural systems. The discussion highlights the necessity of multidisciplinary thinking that connects planning, architecture, urban design, and emerging technology. The work is organized around two opposing viewpoints. To create adaptable and regenerative constructed environments, the first investigates design intelligence by utilizing ecological principles, vernacular knowledge, and modern architectural innovation. The second looks at the systemic, infrastructural, and technological approaches that allow resilience to function at scale. When taken as a whole, these viewpoints present climate resilience as a complex issue that calls for coordinated urban governance, integrated design, and technology innovation.
