Analysis of Pantograph Catenary Breakdown in Gas-Solid Multiphase Turbulence

PM100, represented by industrial waste (sulfate particles, etc.), reduces the good insulation between pantograph and catenary by deposition and floating. In order to study how PM affects the insulation performance of pantograph and catenary, this paper first analyzes the flow field near the pantograph, and finds that the flow field near the pantograph is dominated by laminar flow when the formal velocity is less than 5 m/s, and turbulence when it is higher than this value. By fitting the forces of multiple physical fields, the simulation analysis shows that there are two kinds of particle distribution in Turbulence: sedimentation and suspension. For PM100 objects, it is mainly suspended near the pantograph surface. Finally, combined with the breakdown simulation analysis, compared with the turbulence field without particle suspension, the breakdown voltage shows the law of first falling and then rising with the increase of vehicle speed.
