Camel-Omics: Technologies for Camel Research
摘要
This chapter examines how omics technologies can strengthen One Health approaches by enabling integrated analysis of the links among animal, human, and environmental health, using camels as a model system. It reviews the contributions of genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, metagenomics, and in silico biology to understanding camel adaptation, health, productivity, and zoonotic disease dynamics. The chapter highlights how these approaches reveal the molecular basis of camel resilience to harsh environments, support disease surveillance and antimicrobial resistance monitoring, and offer new opportunities for sustainable livestock management. It also discusses current limitations in camel omics research and emphasizes the importance of multi-omics integration for advancing One Health strategies in arid and pastoral ecosystems.
