Synthesis of Conducting Polymers

Conducting polymer is a class of polymer which can carry electricity. These are a special group of polymers which contain alternate conjugated double bonds. The most simplest conducting polymer structure is polyacetylene. Among other conducting polymers polyaniline, polythiophene and polypyrrole are important ones. These conducting polymers require to be dopes with ions so that the conduction of charge may happen. In this chapter the preparation and properties of some of the commercially important conducting polymers are reported.
