Application Research of Precise Pressure Control Drilling Technology in Well Chai 20 of Ganchaigou, Yingxiongling

The precise pressure control drilling technology can effectively resolve common downhole complexities in complex formations, such as kicks, fluid loss, collapse, and stuck pipe, particularly addressing the challenging “coexistence of overflow and leakage” in narrow density window drilling. It enhances drilling success rates in complex formations and enables safe, efficient, and rapid drilling operations. This paper begins by analyzing the geological characteristics and drilling challenges of the Yingxiongling structure in the Chaixi Depression of the Qaidam Basin. It examines the complexities encountered in previously drilled wells in the area, including issues caused by narrow density windows and annular pressure losses from high-density drilling fluid circulation. By elucidating the technical difficulties faced during the drilling of Well Chai 20, the implementation process of pressure control, and the achieved results, this study provides effective drilling methods and shared experiences for resolving similar challenges in the region. The findings hold significant value for broader application and promotion in analogous geological settings.
