Research and Application of Plug-Type Filling Sand Control Completion Technology in Sidetrack Wells

摘要

This paper focuses on the sand control challenge in sidetrack wells with a casing inner diameter of φ82.25 mm and conducts an in-depth study on a plug-type sand control completion technology for wellbores. By developing high-permeability and high-strength consolidation materials, a sand-blocking plug with a compressive strength of over 10 MPa and a permeability of higher than 4 μm2 was successfully constructed within the wellbore of the sand control target layer under a low construction pump pressure of less than 5 MPa. This breakthrough overcomes the difficulties in sidetrack wells, such as the high risk of high pump pressure gravel packing and the inability to form a complete sand-blocking barrier with low pump pressure gravel packing. It achieves the dual goals of sand control and production recovery. Compared with traditional gravel packing technology, this technology reduces the construction pump pressure by 66% (from 15 to 5 MPa), significantly increases the permeability by 100% (the permeability of conventional gravel layers increases from 2 to 4 μm2), reduces the single-well sand control cost by 25%, and shortens the operation cycle to within 48 h. The technology has been applied in 42 wells, with a sand control effectiveness rate of 100%, resulting in a cumulative oil increase of 28,690 tons and an average single-well production increase of 683.1 tons.
