Research Status and Development Trends of Wired Power Supply and Communication While Drilling Technology

With the development of intelligent drilling technology, downhole tools are gradually transforming towards electricalization and intelligence. The demand for power supply and communication rate underground is constantly increasing. The difficulty of achieving high-power power supply and high-speed communication while drilling has become a world-class problem restricting the development of electricalization of downhole tools. Therefore, domestic and foreign researchers have attempted various technical solutions to establish ground-downhole power supply and communication channels. Among them, the wired power supply and communication while drilling technology is relatively mature and has been applied in the field. However, it still has problems such as insufficient power supply capacity and difficulty in adapting to harsh drilling conditions. This paper introduces the research status of domestic and foreign companies such as NOV, Reelwell, and Aerospace Third River Group in the field of wired power supply and communication while drilling technology, and analyzes its future development trends. It provides suggestions and references for domestic research on wired power supply and communication while drilling technology in the future.
