Research on the Digital and Intelligent Transformation and Upgrading of Oil Drilling Rigs

Digital intelligence is leading various industries to embrace a brand-new development wave, particularly in the domain of oil drilling. As the global demand for energy keeps increasing, the efficiency and safety of oil drilling have become ever more crucial, and the digital and intelligent transformation and upgrading of oil drilling rigs holds the key. This paper presents the current development status of oil drilling rigs both domestically and internationally as well as the development trends of oil drilling rigs. By benchmarking against advanced foreign drilling rigs and analyzing the deficiencies of major domestic drilling rigs, the goals of digital and intelligent transformation and upgrading are made clear. The digital transformation and development paths of oil drilling rigs are explored through aspects such as the standardization and modularization of the overall structure of drilling rigs, digital upgrading and optimization, efficiency enhancement of automated drilling rigs, and the intelligent control ecosystem of drilling rigs. This enables high-precision measurement and control of drilling rig operation parameters, full automation and unmanned operation, significantly improves operation efficiency, guarantees operation safety, creates a “self-driving” drilling system that dominates the future, realizes unmanned operation and zero waste discharge, and constitutes an effective approach and core competitiveness for improving quality, reducing costs, and enhancing efficiency in the future oil and gas industry.
