摘要

This chapter provides an overview of the fourth and fifth Industrial Revolutions that Africa is currently experiencing. It discusses the crucial role of education and training in promoting sustainability during the significant transformations outlined in African continental plans and frameworks. The chapter also describes how the book offers theoretical, empirical, and practical solutions to develop the skills and competencies needed for digital transformation and to prepare people for workplace changes within African contexts. It emphasises the importance of ecosystems where educational institutions, companies, and policymakers collaborate to achieve the United Nations’ sustainable development goals. Additionally, it outlines the different sections of the book: (I) Transformations for Future Learning, (II) Collaboration for Effective Training and Education for the Competencies Needed in Work and Life, (III) Cases from Industry and Companies for Competence Training, (IV) TVET in Transition—Challenges and Opportunities in Africa, and (V) Scenarios for Future Learning Ecosystems in Africa.
