An Introduction to Orchid Island and the Significance of Studying Island Biogeography and Climate Change

This chapter shall briefly introduce island biogeography, climate change, the ecological outlook for reptiles on small islands, the cornerstone of research—fundamental ecological studies, the importance of long-term ecological research, animal behavioral studies, and the origins of reptile ecology research on Orchid Island. It shall cover Orchid Island‘s geographical location, geological history, cultural heritage, and its flora and fauna resources, alongside the distribution of reptile species inhabiting the island.
