Preferred Reservoir Stimulation Mode and Effect Evauation Based on the Geological Characteristics of the Xujiahe Formation

The Sichuan Basin, a prominent oil and gas-bearing basin within China, harbors the Tianfu gas field, which exhibits characteristics of deep-basin gas reservoirs with gas-bearing sands that are developed in a continuous scale. This area is conducive to augmenting large-scale storage and possesses considerable exploration potential. The Xujiahe formation of JianYang block is characterized by (1) overall gas-bearing; (2) vertical stacking and horizontal contiguity of reservoirs; (3) moderate porosity of reservoirs, which is conducive to the formation of physical sealing; (4) close proximity of sources and reservoirs, overpressure filling and tectonic filling; and (5) development of fracture network, etc. The development of reservoirs is influenced by a variety of factors, including the sedimentary phase, sedimentological conditions, and the reservoir’s development. However, during the drilling of exploratory wells, it has been found that the reservoir modification of the Xujiahe Formation is differentiated, and the controlling factors of reservoir modification have not yet been clarified. This paper synthesizes a variety of information from different fields, including geological, geophysical, and engineering disciplines, as well as dynamic and static analyses. It combines the effects of reservoir stimulation and proposes a preferred reservoir stimulation mode, as well as a post-evaluation of the stimulation effect.
