Case Studies and Application Effects of Dynamic Updating of 3D Geological Models Based on Dynamic Simulation Technology

With the continuous development and production of oil and gas fields, the physical characteristics of subsurface reservoirs (including porosity and permeability) and reservoir heterogeneity undergo persistent changes. However, three-dimensional geological and reservoir models constructed based on limited early-stage data and historical understanding can no longer accurately capture and reflect the current fluid flow patterns in reservoirs under increasingly complex conditions. These limitations significantly reduce the effective lifespan of conventional models, rendering them inadequate for critical operational requirements such as optimizing extraction strategies and improving recovery rates. To address these challenges, Changqing Oilfield has independently developed a four-dimensional reservoir dynamic modeling system (CQMDS). This system facilitates the iterative updating of 3D geological models and the reinterpretation of reservoir characteristics in key blocks, thereby establishing a scientific foundation for optimizing subsequent development policies and formulating potential exploitation schemes.
