Artificial Intelligence as a Pedagogical Tool: Student Experiences with Concept Mapping in Higher Education

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping contemporary society and exerting influence across multiple domains, including education. Its incorporation into active methodologies such as collaborative learning creates new opportunities to enhance both knowledge acquisition and skills development. This study reports on an innovative experience in the teaching of Production and Operations Management, where students engaged in the collaborative creation of concept maps using AI-based tools. The activity not only supported their learning of the subject matter but also strengthened their digital competences and enabled the development of abilities that differ from those typically acquired in traditional classroom settings. Furthermore, it offered students the opportunity to become acquainted with the responsible and effective use of AI.
