Leveraging AI for Holistic Social-emotional Learning Integration in Traditional Curriculums
摘要
The chapter attempts to put forth the Voice of recognition regarding SEL discursively. The growing importance of the inclusion of Social-Emotional Learning in regular curricula has been for the development of well-rounded, resilient and high-achieving students. Social-emotional learning prepares students with many necessary skills like emotional management, empathy, teamwork, and decision-making. These skills do not just comprise important facets of individual development, but they also lead to educational as well as career success. This chapter stresses the need for SEL inclusion in school curriculums, emphasizing the fact concerning the holistic approach to cognitive and emotional growth. The literature and case studies presented show that the presence of SEL reflected on improved behaviors, academic performance, and overall well-being among students. It also discusses the issues and obstacles to SEL implementation, i.e. teacher training process, not enough resources, and a more traditional concern over outcomes that are academic. In light of emerging trends, the chapter also considers how readiness for SEL can inform the adoption of AI-powered educational technologies—such as emotion-sensing systems, chatbot-based SEL tutors, and adaptive platforms—to support students’ emotional and social growth in both physical and digital learning environments. These have included several models of SEL implemented conscientiously successful but nonetheless provided here depicting how schools could adapt to create inclusive environments in which students’ social and emotional growth would be regarded as a major aspect in conjunction with academic achievements. It finally concludes with advocates for inclusion of SEL in curricula that would serve the emotional and academic development of all students, as would prepare them for the needs in the twenty-first-century workplace, by federal agencies and state departments.
