Saudi Arabia Applying AI in Architecture and Interior Design: A Case Study of a Gaming Arena with Focus on Lighting, Materials, and Structure
摘要
The research investigates the impact of integrating AI into interior design and architecture programs, with a focus on design studios. This case study focuses on the D7 project, also known as the Gaming Arena project. The methodology involves utilizing AI programs throughout three primary design phases: elevation design, structural design, and the selection of lighting and materials. A survey was distributed to Design 7 students to collect their feedback on the utilization of AI in specific interior design case studies derived from student projects. The survey results reveal that students proficient in lighting attained 90% in materials, 92% in structure, and 90% in overall performance. Additional questions were incorporated into the survey. This study concludes that AI should be integrated into the design process, under the guidance of instructors and as part of architectural engineering curricula. This study emphasizes the importance of training students to utilize AI across various programs, thereby improving design processes in architectural education at all levels. It promotes information transfer via workshops, webinars, and competitions, both internally and in collaboration with other universities. This study emphasizes the importance of developing an AI strategy within architectural programs, exploring how and when AI should be integrated into architectural practice.
