A Fuzzy Decision Support System for Sustainability Evaluation in Saudi Manufacturing Industries
摘要
As part of its Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia has placed sustainability at the forefront of its national development goals. In this context, sustainability in manufacturing has become a key driver of organizational adaptability and long-term competitive advantage. This study presents a fuzzy decision support system (DSS) designed to evaluate sustainability performance within Saudi manufacturing organizations. The system addresses the complexity of sustainability assessment by incorporating three core pillars, 12 indicators, and 29 sub-indicators. Utilizing a fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making approach, the DSS facilitates a comprehensive analysis of sustainability parameters and identifies key barriers hindering sustainable development. The model’s applicability and effectiveness were demonstrated through a case study of a Saudi manufacturing firm aiming to enhance its local and global standing by overcoming strategic sustainability challenges. The results highlight the DSS’s potential as a valuable tool for supporting decision making and guiding strategic efforts toward achieving sustainable growth in the manufacturing sector.
