In terms of ease of teaching, Turkish history is divided into two main categories: the pre-Islamic and post-Islamic periods. The pre-Islamic period is also referred to as the era of the ancient Turks. The lifestyle of pre-Islamic Turks also determined, in a sense, their forms of education and of the ideal human. Because the Huns were a society living on the steppes, the focus was on raising people who could adapt to this geography. The previous chapter gave a detailed explanation of the essence of this educational approach, which was the Alp [brave/heroic] type of person. This chapter will provide information about the educational approaches, institutions, and works the Turks followed while becoming Muslim starting in the tenth century.
