Smart agriculture is fundamentally transforming traditional farming systems by integrating advanced digital technologies into core agricultural operations. Computers, intelligent algorithms, and robotic systems are now widely utilized to manage key processes, including crop monitoring, growth regulation, and harvesting. This approach is being adopted globally to promote sustainable and profitable food production. Smart technologies have enabled agronomists to optimize resource use, address labor shortages, and enhance crop yields. Key innovations include drones for crop monitoring, robotic harvesters, artificial intelligence-powered irrigation systems, and autonomous tractors. These technologies reduce environmental impact, minimize human intervention, and facilitate more efficient farm management. The concept of “smart farms” relies on data analytics to improve supply chain management, detect diseases, and predict optimal harvest times. Case studies from leading agricultural regions demonstrate that effective implementation yields clear benefits, including improved sustainability, cost reduction, and increased productivity. Critical considerations include the demand for skilled labor, data security, interoperability, and high initial investment costs.
