摘要

Agriculture plays a critical role in supporting the economies of developing nations. Nevertheless, it faces several challenges, with unpredictable natural factors among the most significant threats. To ensure the sustainability of agricultural production, the adoption of modern technologies for monitoring soil conditions and crop status has become a priority in recent years. Geospatial technologies, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing techniques, are particularly valuable in this context. These tools are essential for predicting crop maturity, managing crop stands, and optimizing agricultural yields. Additionally, access to agricultural weather information and meteorological data is crucial for effective crop management. The use of various sensors and modeling procedures further supports the evaluation of these factors. Remote sensing is also instrumental in detecting and assessing crop damage from biotic factors, enabling timely interventions and improved management practices. This chapter provides a concise overview of the applications and benefits of GIS and remote sensing technologies in agriculture, emphasizing their role in enhancing productivity and resilience.
