Biodiversity is fundamental to ecosystem stability, agricultural productivity, climate resilience, and global food security. However, accelerating biodiversity loss driven by climate change, habitat degradation, land-use change, pollution, invasive species, and overexploitation poses significant threats to sustainable food systems worldwide. This chapter examines the interrelationships among biodiversity, food security, and climate change, highlighting the critical role of agrobiodiversity in enhancing agricultural resilience, resource-use efficiency, and adaptive capacity to environmental stresses. Particular emphasis is placed on the conservation of crop genetic resources, traditional landraces, and diversified farming systems that support sustainable agricultural transitions. The chapter reviews biodiversity-based approaches, including agroecological practices, polycultures, integrated pest management, agroforestry, conservation agriculture, and nature-based solutions, which improve ecosystem services, soil health, carbon sequestration, water conservation, and nutritional security. Emerging innovations such as biomimicry in urban agriculture, climate-resilient crop improvement, and the integration of traditional ecological knowledge with modern technologies are also discussed. Furthermore, the socioeconomic and policy dimensions influencing the adoption of biodiversity-centered agricultural systems are critically evaluated. The chapter concludes that conserving and integrating biodiversity into food production systems is essential for achieving climate adaptation, sustainable agriculture, and long-term food security. Effective implementation requires multi-stakeholder collaboration, supportive policies, community participation, and context-specific strategies that align environmental sustainability with socioeconomic development and the Sustainable Development Goals.
