The discussion of the ancient Khotan Kingdom’s name is not new in academic circles. Since the early twentieth century, when Khotanese manuscripts and documents discovered in Dunhuang and Khotan entered scholarly research, many prominent international scholars have examined various aspects of the kingdom’s name.
