Role of Bodies for the Conservation of Bio-diversity Under Biological Diversity Act, 2002

Biological Diversity is essential part of agriculture and food production and processing, because it makes an essential contribution for feeding the millions of the population of the every nation of the world. Biological Diversity is multi-disciplinary area, which involve multifaceted actions & activities. Preservation of Biological Diversity is a common concern of human being and humanity. In this chapter author has also discussed about Community Forest Resource Rights, which is a recognized right under Sections Enactment Related to the Conservation of Biodiversity in India and Community Forest Resource Rights Under Forest Dwellers Act, 2006 of Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006, which aims to empower local communities with rights over forest land and resources and promote their participation in the conservation and sustainable management of forests. In this chapter, researcher has explored and analyses the role of three tiered management structure of bodies under the Biological Diversity Act. Three tiered management structure of bodies at National, State and local level has discussed in Biological Diversity Act, 2002. Constitution, Composition and Functions of Bodies has elaborated with number of provisions of above said Act, in which setting up National Biodiversity Authority, State Biodiversity Board and Biodiversity Management Committee.
