There is a rapid increase in the ageing population globally, leading to a rising burden of age-related physical disabilities and frailty. Physiological changes in the body, along with comorbidities, impair older adults’ ability to perform daily activities, leading to functional limitations, increased dependence on caregivers, and worsened quality of life. Geriatric rehabilitation is a multifaceted approach that addresses diverse issues and improves the functional status and mobility of older adults. This chapter highlights the integration of innovative technologies in geriatric rehabilitation through robot-assisted interventions, virtual reality, exergaming, wearable sensors, AI-assisted tools, and telerehabilitation to support independence, increase safety, enhance mobility, and improve the overall quality of life of older adults. The chapter also discusses the challenges associated with implementing technology-oriented rehabilitation. It outlines future directions to deliver personalised, accessible, and evidence-based rehabilitation that promotes independence and healthy ageing in older adults.

摘要
