Technology Integrated Disability Rehabilitation: A Modern Paradigm Shift
摘要
Rehabilitation for individuals with physical disabilities is undergoing a significant transformation with the integration of innovative technologies. Conventional rehabilitation approaches have certain limitations in achieving a functional recovery and outcome. This chapter explains the shift from traditional human-dependent models to technology-based interventions, ranging from robotics and virtual reality to wearable sensors, artificial intelligence, and telerehabilitation platforms. These innovative technologies offer better recovery, personalisation, and engagement, enhancing functional recovery in patients with physical disabilities. The chapter highlights the integration of technology-enabled rehabilitation for condition-specific disabilities, including neurological, musculoskeletal, paediatric, geriatric, and women's health conditions. The chapter sets the stage for subsequent chapters that explore technological rehabilitation solutions for physical disabilities across a range of conditions, populations, and health systems.
