In healthcare and nursing institutions, slips, trips, and falls (STFs) cause a range of non-fatal injuries. These incidents have a detrimental effect on the healthcare personnel and the overall productivity of the institute ( R. Morris and S. O’Riordan, “Prevention of falls in hospital,” Clin. Med. (Northfield. Il)., vol. 17, no. 4, pp. 360–362, Aug. 2017, https://doi.org/10.7861/CLINMEDICINE.17-4-360 .; C. Staal, B. White, B. Brasser, L. LeForge, A. Dlouhy, and J. When it comes to missed workdays in the US healthcare business, STFs are the second biggest issue ( T. K. Courtney et al., “Slips, trips and falls in US hospital workers-detailed investigation,” in 16th World Congress on Ergonomics (IEA2006), 2006.). During their time working at the hospital, over a quarter of the workforce, mostly nurses, have reported experiencing STFs ( T. K. Courtney et al., “Slips, trips and falls in US hospital workers-detailed investigation,” in 16th World Congress on Ergonomics (IEA2006), 2006.). This study looked at the traction performance of nurses’ specialized shoes to find out when to replace them based on certain criteria.
