In understanding the calculation of the intraocular (IOL) power, there are many terms that must be well understood by cataract surgeons, especially for phacoemulsification (phaco) surgeons. A profound understanding of the terminologies used is crucial because in many aspects, a good understanding can help a surgeon obtain accurate IOL power calculations, the results of which will raise the chances of patients obtaining maximum visual function and benefiting from successful surgery [1, 2].
