A Study on the Adaptive Clothing Solutions for Elderly Women

Introduction This study investigates the development of personalized adaptive clothing solutions for elderly women, with a focus on improving convenience, self-esteem, and autonomy through ergonomically optimized designs. The research identifies key challenges that older women face in dressing independently due to age-related physical and cognitive limitations. Addressing these issues is crucial for enhancing the daily lives of elderly women and fostering their independence, thereby improving their overall quality of life. Aim & Objectives The aim is to create clothing that not only enhances physical comfort but also promotes psychological well-being by addressing specific needs related to aging and also aims to foster an inclusive society where ergonomic considerations enhance the quality of life for aging populations. Methodology By integrating anthropometric measurements, qualitative interviews, and technological advancements, this study identifies key obstacles and evaluates existing adaptive clothing solutions using both quantitative, survey method and qualitative, case study method, and visual content analysis. Results and Discussions Insights are gathered regarding elderly women’s specific needs and preferences for clothing that enhances mobility and well-being. The study includes the design and assessment of new adaptive garment prototypes that prioritize comfort, functionality, and ease of use. Conclusion Ultimately, by addressing the challenges elderly women face with adaptive clothing, the study contributes to the broader objective of promoting social inclusion, well-being, and active aging. The findings also have significant implications for the design of assistive technologies that further promote independence and social participation among elderly women.
