摘要

With the increasing importance of tourism websites in the travel industry post-pandemic, a well-designed homepage can provide a positive destination image, increase website engagement, and ultimately drive more business to the tourism industry. This study focuses on redesigning the homepage for the official tourism website for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a popular tourist destination in India known for its beaches and biodiversity. The objectives of this research include simplifying the content, improving navigation and design, adding personalization, and evaluating the effectiveness of the redesign through user testing. To achieve these objectives, the study used design tools such as usability heuristic evaluation, personas and user journey maps, open card sorting, and usability testing, involving five users aged between 18 and 45 from Mumbai to gain insights into the website’s target audience. The results section discusses the insights gained from both secondary and primary research, including the heuristic evaluation of the website’s homepage, which identified issues related to esthetic and minimalist design, consistency and standards, and visibility of system status. Based on these issues and the insights from user interviews and journey mapping, the redesign aimed to enhance the user experience by streamlining content, improving navigation and design, and incorporating personalized and engaging elements into the homepage. The study has successfully achieved its objectives, and the results of the post-questionnaire conducted after the usability testing reveal a high satisfaction of 4.4 out of 6 in the participants. Through a comprehensive analysis of the redesign process and its results, this study aims to provide valuable insights for other tourism websites looking to improve their online presence and attract more visitors. With a trend toward more personalized and user-centric websites, this research paper highlights the importance of intuitive homepage design in improving user satisfaction.
