摘要

Haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a curative option for various hematological conditions for patients who lack matched related donors. Haplo-HSCT is marked by key advancements in immunology, graft engineering, and post-transplant management, which have helped overcome the major challenges associated with human leukocyte (HLA) mismatches. In recent times, outcomes of haplo HSCT are similar to matched sibling donor transplants. There are several factors involved in appropriate donor selection. T-cell depletion has been a useful modality to reduce graft versus host disease (GVHD). Immune recovery is an important aspect of haplo HSCT and this is discussed. The recent Indian scenario is also presented.
