Evaluation of Pancreatic Head Mass

Inflammatory mass in chronic pancreatitis and adeno carcinoma (PDAC) are the two most important causes of pancreatic head mass. Anorexia, weight loss, new onset or worsening of diabetes mellitus, and elevated CA 19-9 levels indicate the development of PDAC. Imaging modalities are the mainstay of diagnosis. EUS evaluation has additional benefits of cytology and/or biopsy of the mass.
