Carcinoma Rectum
摘要
Common presentation symptoms are bleeding per rectum, altered bowel habits, loss of weight, and appetite. The work-up of the patient with rectal cancer involves tumor markers (CEA, CA-19.9), colonoscopy, MRI-pelvis for local staging, and CECT and PET-CT for metastatic staging. The management of rectal cancer is a multimodality approach with radiation, surgery, and chemotherapy. The treatment of rectal cancer is tailored according to the location of the tumor, T stage, nodal status, and metastatic status. Total mesorectal excision is the procedure of choice for resectable cancer.
