Design Optimization of the Electromagnetic Clutch for the Control Rod Drive Mechanism in Small Modular Fast Reactors

Small fast reactors impose stringent demands on the reliability and compactness of the control rod drive mechanism. As a core safety component, the electromagnetic clutch directly determines the response speed and operational reliability of emergency shutdown. This study focuses on the specific working conditions of small fast reactors, optimizing the design of the electromagnetic clutch and analyzing its electromagnetic characteristics, structural mechanics, and adaptability in high-temperature environments. Research and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed design meets the required operational conditions, providing a theoretical foundation and technical support for the design of electromagnetic clutches in control rod drive systems for small modular fast reactors.
