Thermocells, or thermogalvanic cells, offer an alternative electrochemical pathway for energy harvesting, generating electricity through temperature-dependent redox reactions. This mechanism naturally yields exceptionally large Seebeck coefficients, creating a significant potential difference when a thermal gradient is applied across the cell's electrodes. This chapter details the development of both single-cell architectures and multi-leg module configurations. This chapter highlights recent advancements in quasi-solid-state thermocells, detailing how the integration of advanced gel electrolytes ensures robust mechanical stability without sacrificing electrochemical performance.
