摘要

In recent times, nanomaterials have become an important part of modern biomedical sciences. They have offered game changing solutions in addressing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) which is a global health concern. Their tunable and unique physicochemical characteristics make them invaluable for the use in cardiology. In this chapter, the process of nanomaterial synthesis, their functionalization and their usage in CVD management has been discussed. Different nanomaterials are used in CVD diagnosis and therapy. Quantum dots, magnetic and gold nanomaterials are utilized for sensitive biosensing and high-resolution bioimaging. This allows continuous monitoring of the disease progression in real time and better effectiveness. Nanomaterials have been used in target-specific delivery of drugs. Polymeric, liposomal and green-synthesized nanocarriers reduce systemic toxicity and improve drug efficacy. This technology has advanced cardiovascular regeneration via nanoscaffolds. The chapter also explores eco-friendly green synthesis methods, cost-effectiveness, and biocompatibility. It addresses the advantages, challenges, clinical potential, and future directions of nanotechnology, aiming to offer extensive insight into its transformative impact on cardiovascular medicine.
