AI–IoT for Smart Urban Planning and Sustainable Development
摘要
This chapter establishes the conceptual and structural foundation for AI–IoT for Smart Urban Planning and Sustainable Development. It situates the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) within the broader context of accelerating urbanization, climate change, infrastructure pressures, and evolving governance structures. Rather than treating digitalization as a purely technological development, it frames AI–IoT integration as an emerging transformation with significant implications for planning paradigms, institutional coordination, and sustainability strategies. The book adopts a planning-centered perspective that foregrounds governance capacity, socio-ecological resilience, infrastructure systems, and human-centered innovation. It brings together theoretical, conceptual, and empirical contributions addressing AI–IoT applications in housing, mobility, water management, environmental monitoring, regenerative urbanism, participatory governance, and digital platforms. The volume is organized into four thematic sections: paradigm and governance transformation; sustainable urban infrastructure applications; resilience and regenerative urbanism; and social innovation and urban intelligence. Collectively, these contributions position AI–IoT integration as a structured and interdisciplinary lens for understanding how intelligent systems are reshaping contemporary urban planning and sustainable development.
