Rheumatic Diseases in Kuwait

This chapter explores the country’s demographics, healthcare sectors, rheumatology health services and provides an overview of rheumatic diseases in Kuwait, comparing their burden on the health system to other specialties through relevant statistics and showing available data on prevalence, incidence, and mortality. The chapter goes through rheumatic diseases, including risk factors, screening programs, diagnosis, and management. It also discusses the research and education related to rheumatic diseases, highlighting the current national rheumatic disease registries and published studies, besides the activities of the rheumatology community in Kuwait. Finally, we cover the cost-effectiveness of rheumatic disease care, challenges, and areas of improvement in this subspecialty.
