Perspectives of Arab Patients on Rheumatic Diseases
摘要
Rheumatic diseases (RDs) present a substantial health challenge in the Arab world, affecting millions of individuals and families across the region. RDs impact patients physically, psychologically, socially, and financially, similar to their counterparts worldwide, despite cultural differences that may influence disease activity and prognosis. Addressing the unique unmet needs of RD patients in the Arab world is crucial. Some patient-initiated advocacy groups aim to raise public awareness and promote patient education. Enhanced public awareness efforts are needed to support Arab patients living with RDs, while rheumatologists should strive to better understand and evaluate the impact of RDs on patients’ overall quality of life. This chapter explores the perspective of Arab patients living with RDs toward their illness.
