Development of Separation Materials for Medical Radionuclides

The fundamental goal of radioactive waste management is to reduce the radionuclide content and radioactivity in wastewater, ensuring that the treated effluent meets national discharge standards and poses no threat to the environment. Since the radionuclides used in radiopharmaceuticals and diagnostic imaging procedures are typically short-lived, current medical radioactive waste treatment technologies primarily rely on storage for decay. In addition, conventional methods such as chemical separation and precipitation are also employed.
