The Experimental Study of Use-Wear

This chapter focuses on the use-wear experiments involving quartzite artifacts employed in the processing of bone, meat, hide and wood. It systematically documents the detailed experimental design and corresponding results, and finally summarizes the diagnostic use-wear features and patterns associated with different working motions and worked materials. This work thereby establishes an experimental foundation for the archaeological interpretation of the utilization attributes of prehistoric stone tools.
