The adrenal gland is an essential endocrine organ comprising two parts—adrenal cortex and adrenal medulla. The adrenal cortex secretes three categories of hormones—mineralocorticoids, glucocorticoids and adrenal androgens. This chapter focuses on the biosynthesis, metabolism, mechanism of action, regulation and disorders of these hormones.
