Hormones in Calcium Homeostasis
摘要
This chapter focuses on the hormones involved in homeostasis of calcium, namely vitamin D and parathyroid hormone (PTH). In the initial section—it discusses the details of biosynthesis, secretion and metabolism of vitamin D, followed by the mechanism of action of vitamin D, along with its clinical significance. Subsequently, there is an in-depth overview of PTH—the principal regulator of calcium levels in the body, including its biosynthesis, secretion, mechanism of action and associated clinical disorders.
