摘要

I was climbing Mt. Kita and Mt. Ainodake, the second and third highest mountains in Japan. Located in the South Japan Alps, they are popular mountains both included in Kyuya Fukuda’s book, One Hundred Mountains of Japan. It’s a long climb to do in one day, and after finally summiting the second of those peaks, I was hurrying back to the mountain hut at Mt. Kita. Dinner is served early in the mountain huts, and I was anxious to return in time for my meal at 5 pm. With the building in sight, I was relieved to be there with minutes to spare. There’d be nothing to eat if I missed my pre-booked meal.
