The development of a country without cultural ascendancy lacks soul and cannot be sustained, and a nation without spiritual aspirations cannot stand among the nations of the world. In order to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and fully build a great modern socialist country, China has adopted the strategy of building a country with a strong socialist culture. As an essential component of fine traditional Chinese culture, China’s cultural heritage embodies the unique spiritual values, ways of thinking, and imaginative scope of the Chinese nation, reflecting the vitality and creativity of the Chinese people. In the new era, cultural heritage plays an increasingly important role in the strategy of building a country with a strong socialist culture. In line with the implementation of such a strategy, this section reviews the significant measures and achievements in the protection and utilization of cultural heritage since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, emphasizes the importance of realizing the functional value of cultural heritage, and explores innovative ways to protect and utilize cultural heritage in view of the future development of culture, so as to provide intellectual support for the development of a country with a strong socialist culture and the transmission of Chinese civilization.
