Assessment of Himalayan Floods Using HEC-RAS 2D Flood Modeling: A Case Study from a Part of Beas River

  • Ansha Mumtaz

摘要

Flood modeling has become a central component of water resource planning and disaster risk reduction, particularly for those regions prone to extreme rainfall, high-intensity runoff, and flash flooding such as the Indian Himalayas. This detailed spatial understanding is crucial for targeted interventions. In conclusion, this research provides vital, actionable information for district-level disaster planning, land-use management, and the design of climate-resilient infrastructure within the Beas River basin. The generated flood hazard maps and LULC impact analyses for both current (2022) and projected (20% increase, 50% increase, and flood 2025) scenarios serve as essential tools for policymakers and emergency managers to enhance preparedness, mitigate potential damages, and ultimately build greater resilience against future flood events in the face of changing climate patterns.
