Physical, Structural, and Optical Characteristics of V2O5-Doped Alkali and Alkaline-Earth Borate Glasses
摘要
Structural and optical properties of (100−x) [0.5B2O3–0.3Li2O-0.2BaO]−x V2O5 [where x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0 mol%] glasses, which were synthesized using the traditional melt-quenching technique, are reported. XRD studies of these glasses confirm their structure. Their densities were calculated and found to be declined from 3.094 to 3.024 g/cm3, as the molar concentration of V2O5 increased, whereas the molar volume increased from 24.059 to 24.975 cm3/mol. Their optical characteristics have been determined using spectroscopic techniques (FTIR, Raman, UV-Vis). There is a change in bandgap energies from 4.14 to 2.78 eV (direct) and 3.88 to 3.38 eV (indirect). As the concentration of V2O5 changes, the refractive index values are observed to rise from 2.28 to 2.37 while the Urbach energy lies from 0.43 to 0.29 eV. The structural alterations in the glass network are studied well by obtained results.
