Development of a Schiff Base as Potential Fluorescent Sensor for Cu(II)

  • Rati Kanta Bera

摘要

In this chapter, development of a Schiff base compound (L) as efficient fluorescent sensor was described. The results obtained from fluorescence studies cleared that the interaction of copper ion with the L causes remarkable quenching in the fluorescent intensity of the present Schiff base and shifted the emission maxima of L from 420 to 439 nm with ∆λf = 19 nm; however, the presence of other metal ions have likely no impact on the fluorescence emission of L. This is due to 1:1 stoichiometric complex formation of L and Cu2+ ion.
