Effect of Fullerene C60 on the Morphological and Optical Properties of Poly (Methyl) Methacrylate
摘要
The paper reports AFM and refractive indices studies done on PMMA/fullerene C60 nanocomposite thin films. Thin films of PMMA/fullerene C60 nanocomposite were prepared by spin coating technique. Fullerene C60 nanoparticles in different concentrations were dispersed into PMMA matrix and the solutions were spun by the spin—coater to obtain thin films. The thickness of the obtained nanocomposite thin films as measured by a thin film analyzer were 50 nm. The presence of fullerene C60 nanoparticles in the nanocomposites were confirmed by AFM studies. Morphological features also showed that C60 was homogeneously distributed in the PMMA matrix. In addition to film thickness measurements, the thin film analyzer was used to determine the refractive indices of the prepared nanocomposites. A variation in the values of index of refraction were observed with different doping percentages of fullerene C60 in PMMA polymer matrix at different wavelengths.
