Green Nanomaterials in Dentistry

The convergence of green chemistry and advanced nanotechnology is revolutionizing dental science, offering eco-friendly solutions to age-old clinical challenges. This chapter looks at the idea of using plant extracts, microbes, and other biological materials to make functionalized nanomaterials in a way that is good for the environment. These methods do away with the need for harmful chemicals that are often used to make nanoparticles in the past. The resulting green nanomaterials exhibit enhanced properties, making them ideal for a wide range of dental applications. They consist of restorative composites with increased mechanical strength, nanoparticle-based irrigants for more effective endodontic disinfection, and bioactive coatings for enhanced dental implant integration. The critical evaluation is provided concerning the way these early materials overcome two essential shortcomings of traditional dentistry due to their antimicrobial, mechanical, and bioactive qualities, but fit into the framework of sustainable development. Lastly, it discusses the study which must be undertaken to create dental nanomaterials which are smart and capable of performing more than one task. The use of green nanomaterials is a positive development in the future of dentistry because it is a combination of environmental sustainability and new treatment methods of diseases.
